< back to News pageThe NZ Injury Prevention Programme Database is LIVE!
The New Zealand Injury Prevention Strategy Secretariat is pleased to announce that their on-line database of Injury Prevention Programmes is now live! It can be found here on the strategy's website at db.nzips.govt.nz.
This newly created database is a method of gathering, collating and disseminating injury prevention programme information to everyone in New Zealand. It has been a collaborative project with input being received from many community groups as well as government agencies.
The front end of the database has been designed by DNA Designed Communications Ltd and it is designed to be easy to use and functional. "We are hoping to provide a resource that is not only helpful but also really accessible to all levels of computer literacy" says Fleur Mulligan of the NZIPS Secretariat who has been leading the project. Jane Mills, information specialist, has been contracted to manage the database. "We are really excited about the prospect of having a database that will not only facilitate the use of injury prevention programmes, but will also facilitate further networking in the field" says Jane.
It is hoped that it will be used by people in the safety and injury prevention sectors to share information on programmes and also help to reduce duplication of initiatives.
The NZIPS Secretariat recognises that the database is only as successful as the information it contains. The response from the injury prevention community has been very positive but we are hoping to tap into a number of further programmes with the aim of doubling the number of entries. The database will become more and more effective as a greater proportion of the current programmes operating in New Zealand are entered. If you have any programmes or initiatives that you would like to be promoted please visit NZIPS Online Database Form and complete the form.
The NZIPS Secretariat would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has contributed to this resource - from feedback on from the initial control lists and end colour scheme, right through to all the people who have contributed entries and helped with getting it live on the internet! THANK YOU!
