The NZ Injury Prevention Programme Database is up and running!

As there was no central resource available to capture all information relating to injury prevention related programmes across New Zealand, the NZIPS Secretariat worked with others in the injury prevention community to develop the New Zealand Injury Prevention Programmes Database.

This database is a method of gathering, collating and disseminating injury prevention programme information to a wide audience. It is expected that the primary audience for this database will be injury prevention practitioners and government agencies, however it is perceived that the public will also find it of benefit.

The NZIPS Secretariat have employed Jane Mills, information specialist, to manage this database. Jane is currently also managing the database which SPARC run for physical activity and nutrition.

Jane contacted many community groups and Government agencies to promote the database and also help answer any questions. Currently we have over 500 entries in the database.

A copy of the online data collection form has been posted on the NZIPS website. If you have any programme or initiative that you would like to promote, please visit NZIPS Online Database Form and complete the form.

The NZIPS Secretariat recognises that the database is only as successful as the information it contains. The response from the injury prevention community has been very positive but we are hoping to tap into a number of further programmes.

DNA design were asked to design the front end of the project. It is designed to be easy to use and functional.

Now that the database is live, the next step for the NZIPS Secretariat is to widely promote the database. If you would like to include a link to the database on your site, please do not hesitate to contact Jane Mills via email.
