Regional Forums

The New Zealand Injury Prevention Strategy Secretariat and the Ministry of Health have established contracts for the provision of Regional Forums in the North and South Island. The purpose of the forums is to:

  • improve collaboration and coordination of injury prevention performance at community, regional and national levels in line with the 10 objectives of the New Zealand Injury Prevention Strategy and the Public Health objectives of the Ministry of Health.
  • strengthen and support effective injury prevention activity at the community and regional level.

The provider in the South Island is Connecting People (Sandra James) and from the North Island it is the Safe Communities Foundation New Zealand.

To date forums have been held in Christchurch, Dunedin, Taranaki, Northland, Greater Wellington region and Greater Auckland region with another one planned for Bay of Plenty in November.
