Workplace Health and Safety Strategy

The Workplace Health and Safety Strategy for New Zealand to 2015, has been created to provide a national vision and strategic direction for workplace health and safety over the next ten years.  The Strategy aims to lift New Zealand’s workplace health and safety performance and reduce the work toll.  The Strategy vision is “healthy people in safe and productive workplaces”.

The Department of Labour is leading the implementation of the Strategy.

The Workplace Health and Safety Council, appointed in April 2007, works to build consensus and provide advice to Ministers about workplace health and safety in New Zealand.  The Council will also provide advice on ways to progress the outcomes of the Workplace Health and Safety Strategy.
